Heidi White

English Teacher

Heidi’s journey as an educator began in 1986, long before she officially started teaching high school English in 2002. Her first teaching experience came unexpectedly when a dance instructor didn’t show up, and Heidi eagerly stepped in to lead the class. Having spent much of her childhood and adolescence pirouetting, Heidi jokes that if Edge had existed “in the 1900s,” she would have been the happiest person alive.

From 1991 to 2020, Heidi worked as a fitness instructor, where she honed her ability to connect with people and inspire them to achieve their goals. Her love of learning extends beyond the classroom; she is an avid reader with a passion for research in sociology, psychology, and any study that shows how students can access learning in a meaningful way. While Heidi can lose herself in a great book, she has no trouble setting one down that is dull-even if it won every award.

Teaching has always been central to Heidi’s life, whether in the dance studio, fitness center, or classroom. She is deeply passionate about literacy, the lifelong pursuit of knowledge, and the power of soft skills—skills she often weaves into the same lesson plans that explore the timeless works of Shakespeare. Her goal is for every student to feel valued, be inspired, and recognize that learning and growth is possible every day.
