Welcome to Edge School
- What is financial aid?
Financial aid provides assistance with tuition fees based solely on a family’s financial need. Funds are provided from donations as well as fundraising events run by the Edge School Foundation. A request for financial aid does not have any impact on admissions decisions.
- Who can apply for financial aid?
Anyone can apply for financial aid. Priority is given to Edge families currently receiving financial aid. All successful applicants will be required to pay a minimum amount as determined by the Financial Assistance Committee (FAC). While we would be thrilled to accept all applications, there is a limited amount of funding and accordingly not all requests can be awarded.
- How do we apply for financial aid?
Families complete and submit a detailed application to our FAC. All information is kept strictly confidential. The current application can be found below.
- How is financial aid determined?
The FAC uses a standard formula to determine the needs of each family. Consideration of income, expenses, assets and debts, age, size of family and the number of children at tuition paying schools and universities establishes the need. Other factors in the award decision process include the applicant’s demonstration of adhering to the Mountaineer Code of Conduct, our LEAD Model and good academic standing. Sometimes there are additional extenuating circumstance a family faces which the FAC considers as well.
- How much can we expect to receive?
Most awards, for families who qualify, are between $2,000 and $10,500. Applications are considered on an individual basis, so the amounts awarded can vary significantly.
- Is the amount of financial aid renewable each year ?
A new application must be submitted each year. Changes in a family’s circumstances may change the amount awarded. Generally, the funding level remains the same until graduation, provided the student is in good standing academically, athletically and character wise. Families are considered for aid only if previous school year fees have been paid in full.
- What if someone of apparent greater wealth receives aid and you do not?
The FAC reviews the application and supporting documents from each family. It is unlikely that someone of greater wealth will receive more aid, but as overall family circumstances can vary, so can awards. The school, and, we hope, the families, take confidentiality very seriously.
