Our Edge Volleyball Skill Academy program student-athletes will not compete as a team within the School Sport Alberta (SSA) or Volleyball Alberta club systems. Also, our student-athletes training in the volleyball academy program are not eligible for SSA activities in volleyball, however, they may participate on non-volleyball SSA teams offered at Edge School, such as track & field, badminton, etc.
The Volleyball Skill Academy fee is built into tuition at Edge School. Additional fees will be assessed for additional travel or exhibition opportunities. For example, should the academy travel as a group to the US for a Showcase event, or to another province for an exhibition weekend, there will be a fee, over and above tuition, for that experience.
We’re excited to welcome Krista Flaman as our Volleyball Director.
Bringing an exceptional blend of high-performance experience, coaching expertise, and a deep commitment to student-athlete development, Krista is set to make an immediate impact at Edge.
Her passion for developing well-rounded athletes aligns seamlessly with our mission, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her leading the launch of our volleyball program and joining the Edge community.
Join us for our Volleyball Meet & Greet + Information Session (everyone welcome) on Tuesday, April 28.
Meet Krista Flaman, tour our training environment and learn more about the program.
Volleyball skill academy students at the Grade 8/9 level can expect to train on court between 4-5 hours per week, with additional time dedicated to strength and conditioning, video and classroom sessions. Our integrated support team will provide additional education and support in sport nutrition, injury management, mental skills training and athlete readiness.
During our Senior High Sport Block, Grade 10-12 Volleyball Academy student-athletes will have 10 hours of volleyball related programming per week. Similar to the Grade 8/9 academy, the Sr High students will receive a combination of on-court training and off-court development opportunities. Families can expect between 6-7 hours of on-court instruction per week with additional time spent focusing on athlete-development in our Duckett Performance Centre (Strength and Conditioning) and off-court sessions focusing on the needs of young student-athletes.
