James Poole

James Poole joined the Edge in 2017.  Coach Poole brings over 15 years of successful Head Coaching experience at an elite level of hockey (Midget AAA & Junior A). With that experience, Coach Poole instills the values, work ethic and habits necessary for players to be successful transitioning from Minor Hockey into Junior hockey and beyond, ensuring all Edge Mountaineer players are known for being complete players and character people.

Recent Coaching Experience Includes:

• Head Coach / GM for the Okotoks Oilers (AJHL) 2010-2016, and Calgary Canucks (AJHL) 2016-2017
  • AJHL record of 259 wins – 124 losses – 32 OT / SO losses
  • Finalist for AJHL Coach of Year in four of seven seasons
  • In one season with Calgary Canucks led them to most wins and points since 1999

• Head Coach for the Calgary Buffaloes (AMHL) 2007-2010
  • 2008 AMHL, Provincial and Pacific Regional Champions
  • 2009 AMHL, Provincial and Pacific Regional Champions
  • 2008 Mac’s Midget Champions
  • 2010 AMHL Coach of the Year and 2008 Mac’s Midget Outstanding Coach
