Milnthorp finds Career Path that keeps him Connected to the Sports World

Born and raised in Calgary, Scott Milnthorp (class of 2010) played in the top tiers of Springbank Minor Hockey throughout his youth. When his parents realized he had the potential to play more competitively, they considered Edge for their eldest son.

Scott moved from Springbank High School to Edge in Grade 10 and joined the Midget AA team in his first year. In Grade 11, he earned a spot to play for the Edge varsity team and in Grade 12 he played for the NWCAA Midget AAA Flames, where he was scouted to play Junior A hockey for the Grande Prairie Storm, and from there by Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Throughout his undergrad, Scott played with the Marian Sabres and was captain of the men’s varsity hockey team. After playoffs in 2017, his final year at Marian, he was called to the Southern Professional Hockey League to finish the season with the Columbus Cottonmouths. Scott graduated from Marian with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with honours, with a double major in Marketing and Sport & Recreation Management.

The camaraderie and community Scott enjoyed in school and hockey has drawn him to a people-centered career. Graduation first brought him back to Canada where he joined Tennis Canada’s community development team in Toronto. He has since moved into sales and sponsorship roles at Sponsorship Canada & GWN Events, providing him with a way to stay connected to the sports world and create partnerships that bring people together. We look forward to watching his career evolve, and future roles possibly bringing him back to the hockey community.
