Kim Van Vliet

Science & Biology

Kim has been teaching on and off for 21 years now. She has taught in a classroom, tutored kids, substitute taught and coached basketball for eight seasons (never mind teaching her own four kids to grow and experience life).  She believes classrooms can be found everywhere and that anyone can learn anything (it is just the “how” that differs between people). She is teaching Junior Science and High School Biology. Studying the human body and learning why it does what it does is particularly fascinating to her.

“Nothing is more exciting and fulfilling than seeing the ‘ah-ha’ moment happen in someone’s eyes,” she says.

Kim still loves basketball and tries to play every Wednesday night in an adult league she created. She is a prolific reader, enjoys playing video games with her kids, and is happiest in a boat on a lake. Recently she successfully did a 360 on her knee board which has been a goal of hers for awhile.
