Student Awards

Student Awards

The Edge Student Awards Program provides both need-based and merit-based awards to new and continuing students. The majority of Student Awards Program funds are directed to financial aid through Opportunity Awards, with priority given to students currently receiving an award.

Edge Opportunity Awards

Our alumni tell us their experience at the Edge School was life changing. Unfortunately, for some students, the finances of an independent school education can be a significant barrier. Your donation can help students overcome these financial challenges and provide access to exceptional education and athletic development.

Edge Opportunity Awards are awarded to students requiring financial assistance who exhibit sound academic and athletic achievement, good character, and a capacity to make a worthwhile contribution to the School. Edge Opportunity Awards are available to new and continuing students. The Student Awards Application Form must be completed annually for continuing students and submitted by January 31. New student applications will be considered beginning February 1.

Opportunity Awards are awarded based on acceptable academic standing, with financial need as the primary requirement.

  • New students must complete a successful academic review.
  • Continuing students must have maintained satisfactory academic standing in the previous year.
  • Students must also demonstrate adherence to Edge School’s LEAD Model (leadership, effort, attitude, dignity).

“Had it not been for the assistance we received, our daughter would not have been able to participate in this incredible opportunity. She is looking forward to developing new skills and growing as a student athlete.”

Reinhart Family Opportunity Award

Kevin Reinhart knows the impact that sport can have on the lives of young people. As a competitive hockey player growing up, he played junior hockey for the Kitchener Rangers and was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs. While he didn’t end up playing for the Leafs, hockey opened the door to education, enabling Kevin to attend St. Mary’s University and to develop a successful business career.

Kevin joined the Edge School Society Board in 2015, seeing an opportunity to help build an environment for young student-athletes that is closely aligned with his values. Wanting to support students who would not otherwise get the opportunity to develop their character and leadership skills through the Edge program, Kevin and his family established the Reinhart Family Opportunity Award at Edge School in the Fall 2017.
